Golden Syndrome
The collection boasts radical reinterpretations of couture construction, using ephemeral fabrics and fleeting print imagery.  The clothing is also trimmed with surprising hardware recalling the works of Joseph Cornell. Delicate and painstakingly placed ornament, bring the décor from regular two dimensions into a tactile free-for-all. This runway show, held at the gorgeous Gramercy Park Hotel ballroom, was accompanied by Jared Gold and his Mother on two concert grand pianos lovingly donated by Yamaha.  The piece was Aram Khatchaturains piano concerto. This collection was 2 days before September 11th 2002 in NYC.  Quite a few pieces of the group were lost in the hurried escape from NYC, including a wooden dress on wheels.  It was worn by sitting inside and the viewer peered inside to see the wearer surrounded by a pastel glittering city in high relief. After the Golden Syndrome runway event at the Gramercy Park Hotel Ballroom, my parents and I were trapped in New York for a week...  This collection was doomed. Buyers fled from New York and the collection almost dwindled to nothing.  The release of Black Chandelier is what made it possible for me to survive the economic downturn.

Spring 2002, “Golden Syndrome,” the clothing diverges from the first time with the introduction of the diffusion collection “Black Chandelier.” With the transferral of obviously aggressive design energy and a shelter in which to explore darker imagery; Jared now takes his signature label into a more sophisticated existence.  “Golden Syndrome,” is a reference to soft ellipsed moments of recognition. The moments immediately before the rain on an overcast afternoon, and idea this simple is now translated into complex engineered colors, obscure pattern work , and ephemeral inspirations drawn from the assemblage art of Joseph Cornell.

Golden Syndrome Marked the first solo New York City runway exposition for Jared Gold.

“If you look inside of you and if you look inside of your mother, Golden Syndrome is all that you wish you were in her.  So soft, so elegant, with such a long and elaborate story.  This collection is about the love of beauty and the interpretation of the feminine form through a sad and distant man, Joseph Cornell

Golden Syndrome Los Angeles Runway Event
This event was never my favorite runway show.  We had made two giant black topiary snales that were to come down the runway with the models.  The venue was a hast decision for the PR company and the gorgeous concert grand pianos were placed way in the back. A far cry from the New York Show.

This was the finalé of the Golden Syndrome runway event. The corset is screen printed with architectural plans. The flesh colored dress is in simple broadcloth with the Hotel d'azure print. Voile skirt in persimmon with turquoise acrylic custom cut  paillettes.
