Johnny & Viv : The Vivienne Westwood Collection of Johnny Stein
Johnny Stein ,43 year old self-proclaimed gender terrorist from San Diego, has spent his life building his alter ego exclusively from high fashion components. Stein’s Vivienne Westwood collection of shoes, hats, and garments spans four decades of the designer’s work, and is the focus of a new exhibit at the Nan Rae Gallery at Woodbury University, Burbank. The exhibit is curated by Johnny Stein and Woodbury Fashion Department Creative Director, Jared Gold. “I was interested in Johnny’s ability to create his own image using the Westwood pieces. Historic references are crossed and seasons unfold, and a creature is born.” stated Gold. The exhibit consists of life-sized photo prints by Albert Sanchez and Pedro Zalba, full Vivienne Westwood looks styled by Stein from his personal collection, and screen printed posters and rag doll effigies, and interactive installation by Jared Gold.
